Social Responsibility
Introduction: competency 2C
Due to the global inequalities, the world turns around the social. Following Jesus’ example to extend a helping hand to the poor and open the arms to the needy, these should be our mission. In Brazil, as music group, we used to sing and pray for sick patient at hospitals and nursing homes. Working as First Elder and Assistant Pastor for SDA church, I see that the church has a prime opportunity to be an agent of service and education for the renewal and restoration of the local community, so this job has showed the importance to work in favor of others. In our community, we have much more work to do. I also have to encourage those around me, both professional, church and community, to become more involved in social issues and caring. I like not only to reflect on the relationship of evangelism and social engagement but do some musical event that connects them.
What is it for?
Leadership understands social systems and is accountable to others and endeavors to see that family, community, and environmental needs are met in local and, as appropriate, in global ways (Leadership & Learning Plan – LLP, p. 20)
